KEYSTONE 
Keystone helps kids 12 and older channel their
energy in a positive direction. It focuses on leadership, education and career
development, economic and political awareness, and social recreation.
Under the guidance of Club staff, Keystone
members plan activities based on their own interests and the needs of their
community, giving them the chance to be involved and help change their
community and their world. Through Keystone, youth learn how to foster
respect between groups and individuals. They learn valuable leadership skills
and form lasting friendships with other teens across the country. And they
develop self-confidence and self-esteem.
Family Literacy Day!
The Boys and Girls Club will be celebrating
family literacy by holding a Carnival of Family Fun on Saturday, January 28,
2012. The event will take place at the “506”
Clubhouse at 506 First St. There are
many activities planned, including a special reading of Robert Munsch by local
celebrity, actor, Bill Roddy.
Mr. Roddy was named best actor of Eastern
Ontario in 2007. He has appeared in over
100 performances including: classical theatre, musicals, cabarets, as well as
TV and radio shows. Be sure not to miss
this reading, and the many other events being held by the Boys and Girls Club
of Cornwall/SDG on Saturday, January 28, 2012. 
Rachel’s Kids gives a helping hand to Boys
& Girls Club/SDG
Cornwall, ON (January 9, 2012)
– Over the holiday season Rachel’s Kids
gave a generous gift to Boys & Girls Club of Cornwall/SDG – a new roof for
their “506” Clubhouse located at 506 First Street. Over 900 youths were Boys & Girls Club
members in 2011 and this newly renovated clubhouse, which opened in March 2011
was in desperate need of a new roof.
Says Jacquie Richards, Executive Director,
Boys & Girls Club Cornwall/SDG: “Our clubhouse is a home away from home
from many youths and this will reduce our operational costs, and allow us to
put more funds directly into youth programs.
Boys & Girls Club is very grateful for the support of Rachel’s
Kids. This type of support continues to
make the Boys & Girls Club a good
place to be”. A big thank you from the Boys and Girls Club
of Cornwall/SDG to Dr. Navaneelan and Rachel’s Kids. 
Operation Red Nose to
donate to Boys and Girls Club
The
province-wide campaign to reduce drinking and driving during the holidays has
launched in Cornwall this year.
Operation Red Nose is a volunteer effort where rides home are offered
for free, but donations are accepted and greatly appreciated. The
program will run from November 25 to December 31, 2011. The hours of pick up will be 9 pm to 3 am.
This
year the Boys and Girls Club of Cornwall/SDG is lucky enough to be receiving
those donations to help support their six after school and two teen programs
run throughout the city. A warm thank you to Operation Red Nose and
their volunteers.
Boys and Girls Club Donates to Rotary
Club
The staff of the Boys and
Girls Club of Cornwall/SDG have donated sixteen boxes of cereal towards the
Children’s Christmas Fund by helping the Rotary Club meet there pledge of 1,500
boxes of cereal.
Cornwall Triathlon
Donates to the Boys and Girls Club
The Cornwall Triathlon gave a donation of $4,350 to the B&G
Club. This donation was made possible because of the over 500
participants at the Cornwall Triathlon this past August, of the participation of our main sponsor Cornwall Mazda and of the many
local sponsors including OPG, Scotia, Corus Entertainment and The
Standard-Freeholder.

Boys and Girls Club’s First Halloween Haunted
House a Success!
The first ever Boys and Girls
Club Haunted House at our 506 First St., location was a great success. Our staff and volunteers were able to guide
238 children and their parents through the haunted house. The children had a frightfully fun time!
Thank You Kraft!
The Boys and Girls Club would like to extend a big
thank you to Kraft for volunteering their time.
The volunteers made pancakes and banana bread for our children. They also painted at both our Henry St.
Clubhouse and the 506 Clubhouse.
